About
5 months ago I ordered a Joe Osborn 5 to match my 55-94
(AKA #1). A "Dr.Dave JO5". It was to have the
same emerald green color, gold hardware. It was to be equipped
with Lindy Fralin pkups and be passive. Having been to the
shop in Chicago many times, I had seen first hand the care
and expertise that goes into assembling and setting up each
& every Lakland bass that passes through their doors.
Whether it is a USA model or a "Korean built Skyline"
the same care goes into each bass. I was getting excited
when the delivery of my new bass drew near and I was hoping
it would be ready in time for me to use on the new "
Big Al and the Heavyweights" CD. We were tracking it
the first wk of Feb. Bruce Iglauer of Alligator Records
was producing . On 2/02/04 at 11am, my bass was delivered
to Tombstone Studios in Nashville, TN. I unpacked it and
began to play it. MAN DID IT PLAY GOOD!!!!! LIKE BUTTER!!!!.
AND THE WAY IT LOOKED WHOA!!! So to make a long story short,
I ended up cutting the whole project on my new Joe Osborn
5. I couldn't be happier with this bass!!! Carl had told
me that it might need some adjusting because of the overnight
plane ride it had to take to get to me,but a statement on
how good these basses are and the kind of workmanship that
goes in both the construction and assembling of them it
needed none. You can hear it for yourself when the CD comes
out( late spring) or at a live BA&H show. I've owned
many basses in my 37+ yrs of playing but these are the finest
playing and looking basses I've ever owned. I tell people
all over the world about Lakland basses and this just proves
it. " You can't go wrong with a Lakland no matter what
model you buy" Thanks again to Dan, Carl and the rest
of the crew at Lakland for making my dreams come true!!!!! I got Joe to sign it at the 10th anniv. Celebration in Chicago. Here's some pics below better ones
when I have more time to take some better ones...... |
